Grand Little Table

By MEJ in Kearney, MO.

In our kitchen, we have this nook that many others do.  We had a choice: use a small enough table that chairs could move freely around it, or build it out to fill the space.

We chose the latter.

My husband first built the bench that would mimic the windows' shape, then a table to fill the space.

The base of the table is painted with China White Mud Paint and distressed.  The top has some layering and mixing of Minwax Dark Walnut and Weathered Oak penetrating stains and some Minwax Gel Stain in Hickory.

The top is finished with General Finishes High Performance Flat, which makes it look like smooth, beautiful wood ... not like there is a layer of something on top of it.

Could not be more happy with how it has turned out, and we get so many compliments!
