Flame Front Fabulous

By Melissa Geskie, Owner/Artist at The Top Drawer RVA in Henrico, VA.

This is a vintage federal style buffet. The wood on the front was in need of refinishing but I could see the beauty in the veneer and could not bear to paint over it. I stripped the drawer fronts with citristrip. Sanded and then applied walnut stain. A matte finsih was applied ober top in Polycrlic. I used wood filler to repair the base of the beuffet, knicks and holes. Then painted in Black Dog by Black Dog Salvage Paint. Its a chalk paint. I then spray painted the original hardware in matte gold finish. Applied Polyclic to the whole piece. Then applied dark wax to matte out the finish.

A beautiful buffet draped in a little black dress waiting to head out to a new home. The flame front mahogany wood just shines with new life and glows in the light. Sometimes a little black dress is all you need ; )
