I find beauty in aged objects including furniture, as well as old buildings and their architectural ornaments. This particular piece combines my passion for both.
In order to achieve a distressed look on the surface, I gave it a few coats of paint before using the rub through technique.
Design elements on the drawers are photographic transfers. They reflect eagle ornamental details of a pre-war town house and were copied from a photograph taken by me in my hometown.
Both the feathers and the decorative elements on the cabinet knobs were handmade using modelling clay.
I replaced the legs of the piece to add height and give it an impression of lightness.
The piece is from 1950’s / 1960’s and prior to its metamorphosis was a dressing table
