Day Dreaming Cherubim Antique Head and Footboard turned Storage Bench

By Royal Reincarnations, Owner/ Designer in Rosenhayn, NJ.

I absolutely adore Reincarnating pieces to their original purpose or one completely new! When I found this bed with matching dresser I knew it needed another chance at life. Beings as the piece did not come with the original siderails I figured it would be more fun to turn it into a bench then making new ones.. I began construction by cutting the legs off the footboard. This allowed me to flip the footboard upside down so I wouldnt lose all of the original glamour. It also allowed me to give it a hidden storage under the seat. After constructing the base I used a solid piece of wood and routed the edges to give it a clean, tied together appearance. I painted the bench in Sherwin Williams Tri-Corn Black. Then I stained all exposed wood with GF Vintage Cherry Dye Stain. GF Nutmeg gel stain was also used on the seat portion to color match the veneer. I accented all wood carvings with Copper Leaf. The image of the cherubs has been applied using decoupage technique. To really make this a statement piece I individually placed Swarovski crystals to highlight the cherubs and wood accents. This bench has been sealed in GF HPTC to ensure a lasting finish!
