Another one of Grandpa’s pieces that no one wanted. (Insert sad face.) He had started the process and just needed some help to get this beauty back to her glory. She was in pieces, with the mirror and doors detached, and just hoping everything was there. It was!
Multiple layers of rich color make this antique beauty come to life! A base coat of GF Lamp Black peaks out from under two layers of GF Somerset Gold, showing off each curve and carved details on the drawers and doors of this substantial sideboard. After light distressing, General Finishes High Performance Top Coat was applied and a layer of GF Burnt Umber Glaze was added. The appliqués were embellished with a hint of gold glaze from Shabby Paints for a final, irresistible glow. Much of the original oak was rubbed generously with GF American Oak Gel Stain and layered with HPTC for a long-lasting, durable finish. The drawers were treated to a special makeover as well. The center drawer is flocked with a beautiful red application which pops against the golden front. This is the perfect space for special silver pieces. The other three drawers were given a lining of royal color with a bold fabric wrapped around foam core. This beautiful piece is graced with its original mirror to make it extra special, bringing old and new together into the 21st Century.
