Black Pop Island

By Karie Bogart, Flipping Fabulous Salina, Co-Owner at Flipping Fabulous Salina in Salina, KS.

How cute is this island bar?!

A great mid-sized option for small spaces, it's got plenty of storage and is just a really unique piece of furniture. The chairs are the perfect touch!

This buffet was from a local restaurant that closed. It was covered in grime - pop, grease, oils... you name it. It had good bones but took probably 6 hours to clean (seriously). I wanted a classic look, but felt it needed a pop. The top is made of recycled wavered flooring. It's super dimensional & a plain body design wouldn't do. I used General Finishes Lamp Black & sealed it with GF High Performance Satin. I wanted to use a warm off white for the stencil, but the contrast was too much, even distressed. I pulled out my GF Pitch Black Glaze Effects & dirtied it up  bit, & it was perfect! It's just enough to appeal to a modern, fresh designed room. I used GF Java on the trim, & sealed it with HP Satin as well.
