It was love at first site when I came across this piece sitting all by her lonesome calling out to passers-by to please give her a chance. She was begging not to be judged on her dated finish. “Look! I have TWELVE drawers for endless storage possibilities,” she cried out. “Look at my details! Just imagine the statement I could make in an entry or bedroom or living room or even a bathroom...I just need a MAKEOVER! I want so badly to be the Belle of the Ball again!”
I heard her calling for help and took her home, adorned the drawer fronts in pretty papers. I painted the base in Annie Sloan’s Graphite, softened by dry brushing more Annie Sloan colors (Coco and French Linen) and added some silver pearl effects and added distressing. I cleaned the hardware and then sprayed it in a hammered finish called Burnished Amber. I refinished the top in a rich brown (General Finishes Walnut Gel Stain followed by Java Gel Stain) and then sealed with Annie Sloan clear wax and General Finishes top coat so that Belle can be queen of the ball for many more years to come.
