This is one of my most favorite pieces it was in such bad shape when I got it. All drawers had to be reworked,it smelled to high heaven and the outside was a big hot mess. So you just roll with the flow...fixed drawers, sealed out that terrible smell and cleaned/prepped the outside.
Painted the outside with Amy Howard's black which is a deep charcoal and left the drawers bare!!! Decoupaged a poster from Monahan Papers to the center of the drawers and a border of Tim Holtz paper on the sides of the drawer where the poster didn't cover...I don't like my poster to float in the middle as it tends to look unfinished. Sanded where the two papers meet until nice and smooth then painted the image back in so that they merged as one cohesive image. This little lady was looking good!!! Just a little dressing on the sides and we have a done deal.
A beautiful floral piece with butterflies and stripes now stands in the place of that sad, neglected chest that entered my shop....I can now step back and say
I LOVE IT
