These chairs were a labor of love. I was asked to do a pair of adirondack chairs American flag style for a charity auction event. These required me to come up with a step by step game plan of how to approach painting something so intricate. I am strictly a hand painter so I decided to do all the stars free hand. I painted the whole body in Annie Sloan Pure White first. I used one coat just to give it that beachy worn washed look. Then I taped off areas and painted my stripes in Annie Sloan Emperor's Silk, then painted the top half of the chair back in Annie Sloan Napoleonic Blue. These were the easy steps. I used a small angled brush to hand paint each star in varying sizes. I heavily distressed them and finished them in Annie Sloan Clear Wax. Just when I was relieved to have this project behind me I received a custom order for another set! They turned out so wonderful and certainly give me all the feels for the beautiful American red, white, and blue! One set of these chairs were featured by Annie Sloan on her Instagram on the 4th of July.
