Procured For a Princess

By Melissa Flippin, Owner/Artist at Flippotential Custom Finishes in Wheelock, TX.

Just like Cinderella, this chest of drawers had been ignored, neglected and forgotten. But with a little magic and some help from a fairy Godmother, she was soon to be on her way to the ball to steal everyone's hearts.

Instead of a tiara and glass slippers, I added an antique mirror to the top of the chest and replaced the old hardware with pink, glass knobs.

The chest and mirror were first painted with two coats of Annie Sloan Antoinette Chalk Paint. The inside of the drawers and the stripes on the front of the chest were painted with Annie Sloan Paris Grey. The stencilling on the front and the sides of the drawers were done with Annie Sloan Old White.

Next, a coat of Artisan Enhancements' Pearl Plaster was painted on the drawer fronts to give a beautiful pearlescent sheen. GF Champagne Pearl Effects was used to stripe the sides of the chest. After some light distressing, one coat of General Finishes High Performance Top Coat Satin was used to seal the entire project.

And now... She's ready for the ball!
