Drexel Elegance with Farmhouse Flair

By Melissa Flippin, Owner/Artist at Flippotential Custom Finishes in Wheelock, TX.

A customer brought this beautiful Drexel China hutch in and wanted a fresh "old" look.

I applied General Finishes Java Gel to the top trim of the hutch and the base  I then gave the body two coats of Annie Sloan Old Ochre. After lightly distressing the trimmed details,  I applied a coat of GF High Performance Top Coat Flat out Flat on the entire piece.  I then  used GF Van Dyke Brown glaze to "age" it . And finally, another coat of GF Top Coat all over to seal.

The hardware was freshened up with a gold "goat stick" by Little Billy Goat Paints.
