The Treasure Chest

Sometimes the "damage" is the beauty!

This old crackled varnish that laid on this old dresser created a beautiful pattern in the wood.

I decided to just pull out its natural colors with the use of these metallic waxes.

I pulled out the gold and copper tones, edged the piece in pewter... did a coal tar glaze on the top

and then gave the whole thing a bath of dark wax. She really shines in different light, and I love that 

it still looks like a wood piece, just better :-)
