Mme Mayhem's Apothecary

By Stephanie Zentner, Proprietress at The Quirky Cottage in Huntingtown, MD.

BIts of discarded framing and slats of salvaged wood came together to create the canvas for this unique & whimsical Apothecary sign. Although the roots of the trade go back much earlier to the Guild of Pepperers formed in London in 1180, the apothecaries founded their own livery company in England, the Worshipful Society of Apothecaries, in 1617. Hand-painted in a variety of General Finishes Milk Paints, aged to look the part then sealed with High Performance Flat Top Coat.
