ReFind Design by Coco Clare is a boutique furniture design shop based in Algonquin, Illinois. We specialize in custom, vintage furniture and redesign services. The shop is updated as often as I can perfect a new piece.
I opened ReFind Design in 2014, and named the business after my (then) two little girls. I had left my career in fashion to stay home with them, and discovered a new passion at the same time.
Today, I am a wife and mother to three beautiful girls and a handsome young man. My goal is to reimagine, redesign, and refine things of the past into something chic to be loved for years to come.

When Jennifer dropped off her desk she pulled out a page from an Ethan Allen catalog and I knew right then this was meant to be--. Here is Jennifer's Ethan Allen inspired makeover.
The top was stained using a combination of General Finishes Water Based Weathered Gray Stain and Milk Paint Persimmon and Coral Crush. The base was hand painted in a custom Annie Sloan White and then antiqued using a custom mix of waxes.

Vicki's desk was the perfect size for her space and offered her tons of storage with a easy way to hide life's messy moments. But there was one problem, it was dated and tired feeling. She wanted a new look for her work space and it started with transforming this functional desk into a beautiful piece for her to enjoy.

I am literally obsessed!!!! This farmhouse beauty is ready to go home!
I love the perfectly imperfect farmhouse look and this coffee table was screaming "make me old"! The top was refinished using General Finishes Antique Oak Water-Based Stain with a custom flat finish and paired with my favorite gray, a custom mix of Miss Mustard Seed's Trophy. And then for the hardware!!!!❤️❤️❤️ This beautiful new D. Lawless Hardware was aged to perfection using my favorite brass ager. And now it's truly farmhouse; perfectly imperfect!

Where oh where do I begin?!?! This piece is really Ah-Mazing! It had such a beautiful and rare mix of woods. I immediately got a vision for it which would maintain the uniqueness and highlight what is so clearly special about this piece. To enhance the beauty of the wood I used a combination of a chalk paint wash and General Finishes Winter White Glaze. The body of the piece was hand painted in Pure White and the cabinets where stained in General Finishes Water Based Antique Oak. This gorgeous piece has the farmhouse charm that is so undeniably irresistible.

This is truly a stunning piece! Hand painted in one of my all time favorites finishes, Annie Sloan Louis Blue, which a beautiful subtle blue with an antique finish. The interior was stained in General Finishes Java. And with the gold leaf details and a touch of gold gilding, this piece is one of a kind.

This stunning pine Heywood Wakefield China Cabinet has gotten the incredible on-trend makeover. First we removed and repaired an wine glass rack and wood rail (super 80's so it had to go!). This piece was then hand painted in Pure and Original Classico paint. The wood top was refinished using a custom mix of General Finishes Water Based Stain (natural, Walnut, and Antique Oak) and High Performance Top Coat . And finally, we gave the piece a new shiplap back! Gorgeous new hardware from D. Lawless Hardware and designer paper lined drawers make this a country farmhouse dream!

This amazing bar was first lightly sanded. We applied General Finishes Lamp Black as a wash to give this a rich stained look and sealed it with black wax for a deep matte finish (interior in High Performance Top Coat). New antique brass knobs complete this beautiful makeover.

I am totally obsessed with this antique radio-turned-storage cabinet... Hand-rubbed worn black finish using a wash of Lamp Black with Java stained legs and stunning designer paper-lined interior (on a new back) gives this piece a classic look with an on-trend feel. With the addition of two interior shelves, this perfectly sized piece can function almost anywhere; an entryway for odds and ends, a dining room for linens and serving-ware, a living room for books and movies, or an office to store paperwork and a printer.

This vintage dresser has been completely transformed using General Finishes Dye Stain in Medium Brown and Miss Mustard Seed's Milk Paint in Trophy. Pottery Barn bin pulls and these adorable drawer liners make this makeover the perfect combination of classic and whimsical.

The beautiful burled top has been completely refinished using General Finishes water base dye stains. I mixed the perfect custom color of medium brown with just a touch of dark brown, and then sealed it with Arm R Seal. The base of the desk was hand painted in a custom off white and then perfectly aged using General Finishes Van Dyke Brown Glaze.

The set fit her space nicely but the original finish was not only well loved but it wasn't going to work with their new living room renovations. They were moving away from the dark craftsmen look and wanted their furniture to reflect their new farmhouse vibe. With some inspiration help from the current Pottery Barn catalog we revised these great pieces with an on-trend modern farmhouse makeover! This stunning coffee table was completely stripped and sanded.

My clients found these great Pottery Barn Kids dressers for their daughter's bedroom but there was one problem. They had been very loved and were in desperate need of a facelift. The original white finish was in rough shape complete with bubbling tops. We gave them a gorgeous fresh look using General Finishes Seagull Gray Milk Paint and updated the knobs with stunning glass knobs from D. Lawless Hardware. We added drawer liners to complete this sweet makeover!
