Waterfall Desk Gel Revival

On my home from work I see a woman and her elderly mother had put some dilapidating antique furniture on the curb in desperate need of some TLC. Compelled to stop they tell me it is their late grandmother's furniture that has sat in their shed for years. The base was cracked,  missing some laminate and the top was deeply scratched, but I was determined it was not going to the landfill.

The base was repaired using the Kreg pocket hole jig. Entire surface was cleaned with denatured alcohol & water mixture; laminate was glued back; scratches were filled; and then was sanded to a 150 grit. Three layers of General Finishes Candlelite Gel Stain was applied and cured; burnished with a brown paper bag; then finished with two layers of the General Finishes High Performance Satin Top Coat.
