This Antique Tiger Oak Chest has been updated with General Finishes Milk Paint, with a custom grey glaze over top to match the custom 3-color layered and distressed top.

First the body was painted in Halcyon Blue.  In-between the Halcyon and the Glaze, I've added a layer of High Performance Top Coat, Flat.  Luckily the grain of this Tiger Oak still peeks through and really shows off the beauty of the wood.  Then, to ensure the grain stood out, I decided on a custom Gray Glaze.  The Glaze is a mixture of Pitch Black, Winter White Glaze Effects and Extender to allow for additional drying time to apply and wipe off as needed for effect.

The drawer pulls have been updated with brand new pewter cup pulls for just the right touch to match the grey tones throughout.

The top was painted and dry brushed in layers of Driftwood, Halcyon & Lamp Black Milk Paints.  Next I wet-distressed down through the layers which both, blended the colors, and showed each of the layers down through to the wood in a few spots.  Thankfully the wet distressing left a smooth finish to the top and, as it was with the body, allowed the grain to show through.  Finally I finished with 5 coats of High Performance Top Coat in Flat to ensure this area had the durability I'd wanted.

This lil chest took on quite the transformation, from drab, plain ole brown, to a unique bright colored piece in a finish I call "Powder Blue", perfect for that Country Chic styled home.
