Nailed it with Lamp Black

Winning Category

This winning piece, although not so winning when I first found it, had serious potential to be a show stopper. I looked past the cosmetic issues, from the nailed on trim edge, to its broken down back panels. These where easy fixes. To me it was simple...black and brown together, equals spectacular. So I combined, General Finishes Milk Paint in color Lamp Black with the pieces original stain. I simply stripped the top of its varnish and enhanced the wood grain with antique wax from the MMSMP line, that I had on hand. I added black silver nailhead trim to the raw wood edge to add character and cover imperfections. When it came to the inside of the drawers I felt this piece needed a pop of color, and because this piece was reading masculine to me I wanted a very understated color, so I choose AS Chalk paint in color Olive. Now I get it, guys really don't care about the inside color or finish of their drawers, they just wanna know their drawers are in drawer, in this case, a nice drawer.  I then sealed the piece in Hemp oil and poured myself a martini...with two olives!
