Like all good upcycles, I chose this piece because of its good bones. I tend to buy more girly pieces but I fell for it's masculine curves and brought this bad boy home.
I wanted to update this piece while respecting its MCM roots and keep its masculine appeal. After prepping this piece I stained the drawer fronts with GF Java Gel. I painted the exterior with a custom mix of GF Lampblack Milk Paint with a touch of Snow White Milk Paint. This mix created a soft black finish. I sealed the exterior and drawer faces with a mix of GF flat and Satin Top Coat. The hardware is original. I simply buffed it clean.
I love the results. It's so versatile. When I posted it for sale I staged it two ways. Traditional MCM and Modern. My buyer loved it! He's a mellenial, hipster male.
