Lamp Black Wood Slat Dresser

By de-uglied designs

The body of this dresser was painted in General Finishes Lamp Black.  The drawers were given a complete makeover.  Using the existing drawer fronts, I glued and tacked individual pieces of wood slats into a herringbone pattern letting the slats go past the drawer fronts.  Next, I used a circular saw and cut around each drawer.  The drawers were then filled with stainable wood filler and sanded with an orbital sander, starting with 80 grit up to 220.  I used a router to cut around the edges of each drawer.  Then they were stained using Minwax's wood stain in Natural topped with Minwax's Ebony.  Once dried, they were sealed in Minwax's satin polyurethane.  To see how the whole process is done, please check out my blog post http://www.deuglieddesigns.com/?s=wood+slat.
