Guest Book Console

By Toni

Using the bottom half of an old China cabinet, I created a console where friends and family of the happy couple could write their sentiments in a guest book. Using altogether three different GF milk paint colors, I painted the piece inside and out, lined the drawers with a vintage linen floral, painted the sides of the drawers in a complimentary color, used two different glazes, did some distressing, replaced two of the knobs, repainted the drawer pulls in Patina Green, and added a piece of pine to fill a hole on the top where the hutch attached--I didn't realize this problem until I was loading the hutch onto my truck. On this piece of pine, I stenciled script from a French love letter. On the doors and drawers I used both Van Dyke Brown and Winter White glazes. Finally I finished up with GF High Performance Top Coat in satin on the entire piece including the repainted pulls and fabric.
