This piece was inspired by a recent trip to the beach. I love how the turquoise ombre mimics the deep blues of the water and I knew I wanted the top to have a raw wood look to compliment that beautiful hue. I chose General Finishes Gel Stain in Gray for the top. I applied it to the raw wood on top where I had removed the veneer that was peeling badly. Using mineral spirits I wiped back the gel stain to give a distressed look and almost have a driftwood feel. Then I finished the piece with General Finishes Flat Out Flat topcoat for an ultra flat finish.
