I found this ugly duckling on Craigslist and immediately wanted it, for what, wasn't sure but NEEDED it. My thought it would become a coffee bar or something. I didn't want to paint it white - BORING - so I went with General Finishes Coastal Blue for the body. But first I sanded it down on the top and the drawers. I used a sanding/deglosser on the body. My plan was to use Java gel on the top and the drawers but that thought went away when I realized my can was almost empty.
I live in a HOA place, and was thinking we were gonna be asked to leave once I started sanding on my front walk way...but no one rang my bell in the next few days. Once that job was done I brought it into my kitchen and set to cleaning and painting. I opened the can of Coastal Blue and it was lovely. I painted the body of the cabinet, then tought about the top, extension and drawers. "Coastal" means driftwood right? So I stained those pieces with Varathane Carbon Grey and dry brushed more Coastal Blue on top.
I sealed the top and drawers with General Finishes High Performance Top Coat in flat. I really wanted to try white wax on something so I figured what the heck. I used Wise Owl Chalk Synthesis natural furniture wax in white. I added silver knobs and called her done, LOVE IT!
