This " Country Cutie" was once a hot mess!! While outside cleaning and prepping the exsisting finish became a soft sticky black mess so it had to be stripped.-- Once I had a paintable surface the hutch was covered in the color seal skin by Sherwin Williams with Webster's Chalk Paint Powder additive. It was then lightly dry brushed in Heirloom Traditions feathered nest and Verdigris. The inside frame and shelves were painted in Heirloom Traditions feathered nest. Inside top doors were painted a blend of feathered nest and Verdigris for a ombré effect. Glass was removed and replaced with chicken wire. The hutch top was sanded to bare wood then stained in minwax provincial. The drawer fronts and bottom doors received a hammered metal look by applying ArtysSyville texture medium and rolling with Artistic Paint Studios Fauxy roller in the ostrich print. They were painted with General Finishes Pearl Effects in Argentine as well as the hinges and hardware. Drawer sides were stenciled in chevron pattern with Verdigris and drawers lined in fabric. All drawer fronts, bottom doors and sealskin paint was glazed with General Finishes Van Dyke Brown glaze. Entire piece top coated with General Finishes High Performance Satin.
Once a hot mess is now a Country Cutie for years to come.❤
