The Confederate

I have used General Finishes Queensland Gray Milk Paint on may projects but this one is special, for may reasons.  I love this deep, rich gray.  It really seems to elevate anything it touches.  I chose it for this  old antique oak dresser I picked up that looked as though it had been through The War.  To me it was a decidedly masculin piece and the oak took this color beautifully.  I pained the dresser in two coats of the Milk Paint and then lighty sanded the body to reveal the heavy grain than only oak has.  The brass of the key holes and the hardware remind me of the buttons on the military uniform of an officer.  My husband graciously loaned me a few relics (and reproductions) from his collection for the styling of these photos.
