Coastal Farm House Table

By LaDeeDa Design Lori Gravink, Owner Designer at LaDeeDa Design in Crystal, MN.

When I found this piece it was in sad shape. The front doors had been removed and it had a black curtain attached to the back with stick-on Velcro. It was scratched, stained and had crayon marks. My guess is it was used as Puppet Stage!

My first step was to clean the piece and remove all of the crayon, dirt, oil and sticky residue. Next I added multiple strips of lathe to the back and created a shelf and supports. I then sanded the top of the piece and sanded and smoothed all of the lathe edges and ends. Then I painted the exterior of piece doing a two layer chalk paint technique. I stained the lathe with General Finishes Gray Gel Stain. The interior and shelf are Annie Sloan Chalk Paint, French Linen. Lastly I sealed the entire piece with a custom wax of clear wax with White paint mixed in it.

This table has not only been transformed but it is so versatile. I envision using it as a Buffet, an Entry Table, a Console Table or even as a Kitchen Island.
