"Up from the Ashes"

By Sandy Roe, Artistic Designer at Sandy Roe, Artistic Designer in Medford, WI.

Once upon a time, there was a small cabinet so carefully crafted, but as years went by, use and abuse took their toll.  The doors were ripped off leaving gouged out wood where hinges hung squarely.  Layers upon layers of green, ivory, black, red and cream paints were caked on covering all of the beautiful wood.  Somewhere along the way, another craftsman fabricated drawers to replace the broken doors on the cabinet.  A sweet maiden saved this gem from a house fire and brought to me to rescue.  Then, the magic began...or "ahem" the work!  Strippers applied and scraping done meticulously to remove embedded paint layers from the recesses of the wood grains and corners of the crafted framework.  Finally, General Finishes water-based dye stains and General Finishes High-Performance in flat sheen were applied.  The sweet maiden was thrilled to have her true love back again.
