Peacock Blue Statement Buffet

By Triss

This is a beautiful buffet I was lucky to find; a European gem make in Scotland! The finish on this piece is just gorgeous! The woodwork on it was in nice condition but needed a modern color. I stripped the wood, applied GF Java gel stain & wiped off the excess so I could see the beauty of the woodgrain. Then applied the GF Satin Gel Topcoat on the wood-finished parts only. For the body of the piece, thick clay-paints were layered in a color palette inspired by a PEACOCK! You'll also see hints of Shimmering Metallic Copper. When you look inside, the doors open up to reveal Handpainted Leopard. I used GF lampe black to paint the leopard spots & GF High Performance Satin topcoat to protect the artwork. General Finishes also has a liquid wax product that wipes on with a cloth. I use it to freshen up the insides of the drawers & other parts of the inside that are left wood & not painted. Its helps revive the finish along with giving the inside a clean smell. I also updated with Rhinestone drawer pulls, making this one worthy of a second glance.
