Cadillac Ranch

By Keri

Winning Category

This little bed makes a big statement! Upcycled corral panels from a cattle ranch in ND were used for the side rails and footboard.  The headboard was an old door tucked away from an abandoned  farmstead in ND.  An old weathered cedar post from our local lumber yard was used for the chunky legs. They all came together into this solid full size bed that  creates the perfect piece in this cowboy retreat.

Vanity Drawer

By Keri

Winning Category

This bathroom towel holder was once a drawer from my grandmother's vanity.  I repurposed all the drawers and gave one to all the girl's in the family to each have one.  From night stands, to end tables and towel holders; they made great gifts with many memories of grandma.  Painted in GF Queenstown Gray Milk Paint and clear coated in GF High Performance in satin. Knobs from Hobby Lobby.

Memory Lane

Winning Category

My son works on a ranch and brought home some old corral panels for me to have fun with.  This one was used to make a wonderful shelf to display my favorite photography memories. I srubbed, bleached, scrubbed and scrubbed some more, let them dry and then coated it in Howard's Feed and Wax, buffed it out, let it dry and clear coated with 3 coats of GF High Performance in Satin. The brackets are from Hobby Lobby.

Tommy's Drawer

By Keri

Winning Category

This drawer came off a vanity from my grandmother's basement. All the girl's in the family through out the years had sat at this to get ready with makeup and hair.  My sweet uncle scribbled his name in the drawer when he was a little boy.  He passed away unexpectedly a few years back and this is a surprise gift for his wife.  She can set her tea here and read her morning paper and always know that her sweet Tom is watching over her from heaven. I sanded and painted with sample pots of Benjamin Moore and clear coated with 3 coats of GF High Performance in satin.

Baby Bean Dresser

By Keri

Winning Category

This $10 dresser  was found online at an estate sale.  This petite storage would make the perfect baby dresser and was given as a gift from my daughter and boyfriend to a new momma to be. It was scrubbed up, primed and painted in Seagull Gray Milk Paint.  Sherwin Williams Cooled Blue  was used to accent wood trim that I added  for detailed drawer division and also used to piant the drawer insides to freshen them up. Finally 2 coats of GF High Performance in satin were added for protection and hardware from Menard's. Best wishes to Baby Bean.

Shades of Stain

By Keri

Winning Category

This Drexel 1957 dresser was found along with a matching full bed for $100 at a garage sale.  I hauled it home and gave it a good bath from years of sticky kid fingers and sanded it down.  I didn't prime this one and later learned the hard way of how old wood can "bleed" after you seal it.  I painted the body  in GF Seagull Gray, used a gray, whitewash, and a brown stain on the drawers and sealed it with GF High Performace in satin. Upon sealing, the old stain/wood tanins started to "bleed" through the clear coat!!!

I wish this delightful little door could tell it's story!! This door is from a rural ND farmstead and was saved in a family barn.  I powerwashed it to get the grime off, lightly sanded, white washed some bare spots with a mixture of white paint and water, stained the shelves with GF Salem and sealed the whole project with GF High Performance in satin.

Farmhouse Darling Dresser

By Keri

Winning Category

This tattered dresser was a $15 garage sale find and the very first piece for me to ever distress.  I sanded it all down and used a lot of putty fixing missing parts, chunks and dents.  I primed with a ZInsser BIN primer to prevent any bleed through of old stains, cover water damage, etc.  Next came 2 coats of General Finishes  Queenstown Milk Paint and 1 coat of General finishes High Performance in flat.  Five coats of General finishes Antique White Milk Paint were up next to get the gray completely covered.
