OMBRE BUFFET

By Katie Clemente, Furniture Artist at Katie Clemente Studios in CHARLESTON, SC.

Winning Category

What do you see when you look at this piece? Some see a sunset, a mountain range, or even a cityscape.

Me? I see over 80 hours of blood, sweat, and tears! Haha!

My client wanted something different for her living room, and boy did she get it! With creative freedom to do whatever I wanted, I created this gorgeous weathered ombre finish using about a thousand different products and techniques. I could go into detail about every aspect of this piece, or I could just let it speak for itself.

I choose the latter.

Weathered Coastal Table

By Katie Clemente, Furniture Artist at Katie Clemente Studios in CHARLESTON, SC.

Winning Category

This beautiful weathered coastal table didn't always look like that. It was a boring shade of dark green! After sanding down the entire table and using General Finishes Stain Blocker, I layered a few light blues, sea foam greens, and browns. Distressed a little, ordered a pizza, and called it a day.

This piece was so pretty in person, my long time client snatched it up before it even was listed for sale!

Boho chic chest!

By Katie Clemente, Furniture Artist at Katie Clemente Studios in CHARLESTON, SC.

Winning Category

Stop what you're doing.

THIS. IS. IT.

The Boho chic chest everyone has been going crazy over.

When I painted this, I had NO idea the amount of attention this piece would get! Being shared by multiple famous designers, getting thousands of likes, comments, and shares on Facebook, etc. and everyone asking what paint I used.

WHAT IS THAT PINK COLOR?!?!! Well I mixed 2 parts Royal Purple, 3 parts Coral Crush, a splash of Corinth Blue and a tiny bit of Klein Blue Milk Paint.

37 SHADES OF GRAY

By Katie Clemente, Furniture Artist at Katie Clemente Studios in CHARLESTON, SC.

Winning Category

Before you read this, just stop, allow yourself just a moment to take it all in.

This gorgeous dresser/buffet is the entry way to my clients coastal home. She wanted something that resembled driftwood. After layering what seemed like 37 layers of grays, taupe, brown, black, and white, we ended up with an overall gray toned piece that is surely a show stopper! Distressed grays throughout the body and a faux wood grain on top, this piece embodies every aspect of driftwood! General Finishes milk paint saved the day with this piece!

MID CENTURY CREDENZA!!!

By Katie Clemente, Furniture Artist at Katie Clemente Studios in CHARLESTON, SC.

Winning Category

CAN WE SAY COBALT!!!!!

This mid century credenza had an amazing shape!! However, that finish had to go! The original orange lacquer I wanted to keep some how, so I just sanded through the top lacquer to leave the orange color. I added on a cobalt blue paint, as well as a different shade of orange,  and distressed my little heart out! Canvas art is mine too, I just needed something BOLD to go with the credenza!

Custom built bench from headboard!

By Katie Clemente, Furniture Artist at Katie Clemente Studios in CHARLESTON, SC.

Winning Category

You guys... I had this old warped headboard sitting in my "junk" pile at the studio. Nearby, a few old coffee table legs sat, begging for a new purpose. I took one look at these discarded items and it hit me - I didn't have to throw these pieces away just because everyone else had said they were junk.

HOT PINK KITCHEN, YES YOU READ THAT RIGHT!

By Katie Clemente, Furniture Artist at Katie Clemente Studios in CHARLESTON, SC.

Winning Category

My clients home had been destroyed from a flood and needed a total makeover. Being a single mom with limited funds, she contacted my studio for a design consultation. Her bold taste in color allowed me to paint her kitchen cabinets HOT PINK/MAGENTA!! Yes, you read that right. Using General Finishes top coats ensured the long lasting, durable finish! It has now been years, and my business name has changed, but these kitchen cabinets are standing strong and fierce!
