I'm Becky. I'm a mother, a lover of life and laughter, a vintage furniture refinisher, and a certified yoga teacher. For me, there is nothing quite like the way I feel when I am working with my hands and creating a space where transformation is allowed to take place. I love to create, to design, and to inspire – and I myself am constantly inspired by the radiant warmth and classic lines in gorgeous furniture pieces, as well as colors and designs from the world around me. I am honored to be able to breathe new life into forgotten pieces, and to make them feel new and loved again. Refinishing is more than just my craft – although that is a lot! – it is part of who I am. Follow me in my journey of turning forgotten pieces into cherished heirlooms! I'll share my tips and tricks along the way as we custom refinish vintage pieces from near the creative heartland of Austin, Texas. Someone recently summed it up beautifully: "How many of you could make a piece of furniture look so wanted after being ignored for so many years. Lovely." For me it's simple: I do this For Love of the Paint.

Custom Blended Eastlake Dresser

By Becky Herrmann, Owner at For Love of the Paint in Round Rock, TX.

Winning Category

This gorgeous Eastlake style dresser quickly became one of my all-time favorite projects with a custom blend of General Finishes Milk and Chalk Style Paints with 2 parts Queenstown Gray Milk Paint, 4 parts Seagull Gray Milk Paint, and 3 parts Charleton Blue Chalk Style Paint. The resulting paint was smooth, creamy, and effortlessly beautiful! My favorite part of custom blends is that they tend to be chameleons - they can appear to take on different hues based on their lighting and other colors in their setting.

Vintage Desk with World Map Detail

By Becky Herrmann, Owner at For Love of the Paint in Round Rock, TX.

Winning Category

With General Finishes Queenstown Gray Milk Paint and Modern Masters Matte Metallics in Gold Rush, this piece really came alive! Two allover coats of Queenstown Gray milk paint gave the desk a classic, timeless update with a gorgeous smooth finish. We then used a map silhouette and traced the outline of the continents with graphite, then began to outline with gold. I worked with a small detail brush, walking around the desk so that I could approach the lines with the paint, pushing it right up to the edges away from me for maximum visibility and control.

Tiger Oak Chest

By Becky Herrmann, Owner at For Love of the Paint in Round Rock, TX.

Winning Category

This chest is an absolute beauty from the early 1900's. The drawers have a stunning tiger oak grain that made them the perfect candidate for dye stain, which penetrates the grain deeply and accents its unique patterns with an incredible depth of color. This exceptional wood grain was brought out with General Finishes dye stain in Medium Brown. The body was painted with a combination of Linen milk paint and Chapin Gray chalk style paint and distressed for a chippy, weathered look that contrasts gorgeously with the rich brown stain.
